Top performance by SWS-Packaging
1.7 million HÖRZU readers came across a sweet sur- prise in the middle of October 2005. Three mini bars of the new Ritter Sport truffle flavours were attached to the front of the popular TV guide in a transparent blister pack. This promotional campaign was how the Wal- denbuch-based chocolate maker decided to present its new seasonal chocolate, in cooperation with Axel Springer AG. It was a complete success.
SWS-Packaging GmbH, based in Leingarten, played a significant role in the implementation of this conceptio- nal and logistical masterpiece. The company has the perfect tool technology and developed the design for the folding blister packs made of environmentally-friendly PET. SWS was also responsible for important parts of the material flow, coordinated the packing of the mini chocolate bars into the blister packs with partner companies and organised a considerable proportion of the logistics. A few figures help to illustrate just how spectacular this promotional campaign was. 11 ton- nes of material were needed to produce the 1.7 million packs. SWS developed a tool which manufactured 12 packs in one work flow. 11 days, each consisting of three shifts, were needed just to manufacture the packaging. After all, around 5 million mini bars, which represents around 86 tonnes of chocolate, had to be popped into the corresponding blister packs. And an entire fleet of trucks was needed to transport the goods. SWS has considerable experience of marketing campaigns of this size. Becau- se in addition to the design and manufacture of carrier tapes and plastic preforms for all branches of industry, the service-oriented company from Leingarten works in magazine returns processing and is also happy to take care of storage and logistics for its cus- tomers.
